Time for a Blog Candy

This post will stay on top. Blog candy available until March 31, 2011

So my blogger friend Dana recently did a post about prismacolor pencils versus copic markers.  She got me intrigued.  What do I do when I get intrigued?  I go to Ebay and start looking!!  Needless to say I bid on 2 sets of prismacolors and won them both.  Well you know I am going to keep the 48 for myself.  Now I could have put them back on Ebay, but instead I saved them to go with my Blog Candy.  I recently hit 100 followers.  Now, I would like to celebrate that fact!!  And hopefully get a few more!!  But first I want to show you what I did with my Prismacolors and my new RV-63,66's.  I think we need a color in between as well.  There is a a real difference in these colors.  I started by choosing this fabulous ribbon I got off of Ebay, then chose my papers, then my pencils and markers.  The markers are almost purple but are called raspberry.  I used a Sweet November Lillian stamp and buttons so I could enter it into the Challenge at All That Scraps this week.  So first off I am going to show you my two images.
The one on the left is colored with prismacolor premier pencils.  The one on the right is colored with my copic markers.  So the pencils are going to take some work, but it was my first time.
Then  I went ahead and finished them both off on a card.  I used my favorite sentiments by AmyR  called Sassy Sentiments.  There are some new ones out this month, I need to run over and shop for!! LOL

I will say that it was fun to play with a new medium.  I will need more practice though!!  What I really was thinking though is that it will be so much easier to load up the pencils and OMS in the travel trailer than to pack up all my markers this summer!

OK, now back to the blog candy.  This will be pretty easy.  All you have to do is:
1. be a follower of my blog.
2. put a pic of my blog candy in your side bar.
3. enter using the froggy below.
I would also love you to comment and let me know what you think of the differences between the prisma and the copics.  And feel free to send people my way.

Do you see all the goodies.  A 36 package of premier prismacolor pencils, 2 copic markers, some of my favorite coffee ribbon, some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, some Neenah paper, a Calendar for you to design, 2 new Sweet November stamps, and pearls!!

Anita Be Stampin Challenge #14

Can you believe that March is almost over?  I can't believe it!!  This year is flying by!  It is Tuesday again which means it is time for another Anita Be Stampin Challenge.  This week we have a fabulous sketch brought to us by Jen.  I will say it again.  I love a great sketch!
For this challenge I got to ink up Rosie from Rosies Sweets.  This set has 11 stamps, including 6 sentiments.  Love that.
I love this paper with the pink and grey pattern. I thought it would be a good apron print so I paper pieced it on the image. I used a little scribbles paint on the cupcake.  The ribbon is a silver sheer that I just love.  I had fun sewing on here. I usually use straight lines, but thought I would try the curvy sewing and I like how it turned out!
The inside is pretty simple today with lots of space for writing.  I sent this card out in the mail today.  I recently had 2 surgeries, one in December and one in January.  There is a lady in our accounts payable department that I have never met in real life, but she has been such a help to me getting things caught up while I was out. Hope she likes it!
Ok, now I would love to see what you all can create with this fabulous sketch!  We have a new prize structure over at Anita Be Stampin starting today.  It gives more people chances to win some awesome prizes. I know I say this every week, but I want you to know how fabulous these stamps are!  They are such high quality, I just love them!!

Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1-5 participants=$5 prize ($5 Anita Be Stampin gift certificate awarded to 1 participant), 6-10 participants=$10 in prizes ($5 Anita Be Stampin gift certificate awarded to 2 participants), 11+ participants=$15 in prizes ($5 Anita Be Stampin gift certificate awarded to 3 participants).  Worth it?  I think so, now come play along!

Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge

It is time for another color challenge over at the Outlawz!  It is March Madness and we have a fabulous color palette this week.  Your colors are light blue, purple, and creamy white.  The Madness this week is to add a charm.  Hmmmm, those that know me, know that part is not really a challenge! I love to add charms to cards!
I started a couple different cards with this palette, but finally ended up by using the sketch over at All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge.  Love that challenge. It is always fun to combine a couple.  I see how some people add their cards to 5 or 10 or more challenges. I just don't know how they can do it!  2 is about as high as I can go!!
Isn't she darling?  You all know how I love CC Designs images.  I added some glitter to her wings of course!  I tried to get a close up of the dragonfly charm.  It has purple eyes.  The make a wish tag is from Whimsey.
The inside is pretty simple again today.
I hope you will pop on over to the Outlawz and check out the Color challenge today.  It will run through next Tuesday!  And there are some fun new blinkies for your blogs!  There are still a couple of days to get in on the drawing for the $50 gift certificate from Oozak!
Thanks so much for stopping by, there will be 2 posts today, so make sure you come on back to see the Anita Be Stampin challenge!!

New Copic Storage

Hey everyone!  I took a week off from my craft room and it felt so good to get back in there and create yesterday.  We lost my Mother-in-law last Saturday.  She has been suffering from Alzheimer's for some time.  I just couldn't bring myself to leave my husband's side last week to sit in my craft room.  Let me tell you though, it felt so good to get in and color yesterday.  That and play with ink and paper, and adhesive, and glitter, and glue!!  Yup was just what I needed.  OK, both those cards are for tomorrows DT postings. Just a teaser!  I wanted to pop in and show you the new storage that my husband put together for me.  Right now it is too deep, but I have some jars of buttons, and other things behind the markers.  I am going to have him cut me some blocks to put in the back that I can paint or something, we will see!
This storage makes it look like I don't have that many Copic colors!!  I love that I can get my hands in there to find the correct one!  That ink pad holder up top is from a garage sale.  I think it was a cassette holder. Not sure!!
My husband says it looks like a store in here. I tend to agree!!!  My friends also think so!!
So the storage unit is just one of those put together units, we found it at Bi-Mart.  Don't you just love that metal daisy?  Just hung that recently and haven't filled it completely.  But I love to put my cards that I receive on it so I can look at it for inspiration.  This was right after I hung it so there are quite a few more!
Thanks for stopping by, tomorrow I will have 2 posts for you, I hope you will stop back by!!

I See Dots Challenge

Our challenge this week is all about polkadots!! We challenge you to use polkadots on your project.

The winner will be awarded a digistamp of her choice from Guylou's Inimitability Store and will also be invited to be a Guest Designer on an upcoming challenge and will get another GI digistamp to make a card or project along the DT.

The  Design Team got to play with the feature digistamp  called "Cat & Fish". "Cat & Fish" is a fun image that can be used for all kind of cat lover projects.

I used several different mediums on my card this week.  I used an irridecent medium on the fishbowl which was fun. I used some glossy accents, really thick on my goldfish to give them dimension.  So, I was almost done with my card when I had a disaster.  You know the one, the one where you drop the black ink pad on the card!!!  Yeah, that one.  I had it cut out with a nestie, but had to cut out the image in order to salvage it. Thank goodness I didn't drop it on the image itself, I just hate wasting my copic ink!!!

The sentiment is from AmyR at All That Scraps.  Love all those sentiments!  I didn't get the best pictures this time, but I will show you a close up of the "water"

Isn't that cool?  I have the perfect coworker to share this card with.  She is a cat lover.  I am sure you know someone that is purrfect for this image! LOL

I hope you can find some time to play along.  The challenge will run through March 31st.  And don't forget your dots!!!  Mine is in the paper.  I seemed to cover most of them up though!
Thanks again for stopping by, I love visitors!!!

Happily Ever After

My beautiful Neice Samantha is getting married on Saturday.  She is marrying a wonderful guy, Scott.  I wanted to make a special card for a special girl!!  I chose a stamp by Lily of the Valley called I Do.  I just think this is such a darling stamp!  Only thing is Scott is at least a foot taller than Sam.  Oh well!!  Her colors are purple and charcoal.  I decided to make a shaped card with my Grand Calibur.  Love that thing! I used some papers that I had from Close To My Heart that I think are gorgeous for a Wedding.
I had bought these ribbons specifically for this card.  The large and smallest roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts, while the two middle roses are from Recollections. I chose to follow the sketch over at One Crazy Stamper for their monthly challenge.  It is a super cute sketch.  It is so close to the sketch for the CMC Birthday Event as well I am entering it into that challenge as well. Susanne Dean is having fun challenges all week to celebrate the birthday of the CMC site.

And of course a couple shots of the inside of the card.
The wedding is this Saturday and I am super excited to see my family.  All 4 of us syblings and our spouses will get to spend some time together and I am pumped!!  Can't wait.  As always thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.

Anita Be Stampin Sketch Challenge #12

It is time for another challenge at Anita Be Stampin.  We have another fabulous sketch by Anita herself!
You gotta love a good sketch!!  When you are down on your mojo, a good sketch will bring you right back.  I have been having fun coloring these fabulous stamps from Anita Be Stampin.  Once again I am going to tell you that these stamps are some of the best product I have bought on the internet, and let me tell you I can shop!!  This week I used Bears and Bunches. This set has 3 sentiments to go with the stamps. I just love when you get the sentiments with the set, sure makes creating easier!!

The colors are coming across very blue to me, when in actuality they are very tealish or blue/green in color.
These bears are so fun to color.
Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you will take the time to create something fabulous using this weeks sketch.   I have 2 posts today so please make sure you check out the other one.  Also don't forget to check out my blog candy.  And as always thanks for stopping by today!

Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge

It is time for another Tuesday Color Challenge at the Outlawz.  What color do you think of when you think of March?  Why, green of course.  Bet you thought we might have some kind of shamrock for our inspiration photo, didn't you?  Nope, none of that for us girls.  Jenn picked out this fabulous picture of Green Candies.  You know I am addicted to sugar!! This bowl looks like one I would dive right into.  Instead, lets dive into the colors and find some inspiration for your projects.
This month our challenge is being sponsored by Guylou over at Guylou's Inimitability.  I used Leah.  I am really wanting to see some spring around here!!  Even with the lousy weather we have had lately there have been some daffodils peaking out.  They are for sure the first sign of Spring in the Willamette Valley.  And Leah looks like she has been out digging in her garden and cutting a few flowers for the vase on the table!!

The Challenge is to use at least 3 colors of green and the twist is to use glitter.

I put my glitter on my hat band and on the daffodils.  I added a little bling to the sentiment.  This stamp is one of the first I bought years ago. And one that I kept with all the clean outs as well!!  The papers are from My Mind's Eye.
I hope you will head on over to the Outlawz and enter the color challenge this week. Did I meantion that there will be one winner of a $50 gift certificate from Oozak in the month of March as well?  Definitely worth playing along.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Don't forget to check out my other post today.

Thanks A Latte

How many of you know that this is Dental Assistant Week?  I manage 2 dental offices in town.  One for kids and Ortho and another for general dentistry.  If there is anything that motivates the staff at my offices it is coffee cards.  Well, I also like them as a way of saying Thank You.  So I made the assistants cards this week and slipped a Dutch Bro card in the center of them.  Right behind the ribbon.  First off, I love my staff.  If you go into my offices you will see in every one of their rooms cards that I have made for them posted on their bulletin boards.  That makes me feel good.  I hope the girls liked their cards for this week.  I also bought each of the girls a coffee cup to use at these foo foo coffee stands so they don't have to use the throw aways.  They will get those later on this week.  The hardest part of these cards was coloring the images.  Here are some of them.
Gotta love this Whiff of Joy image.  It is definitely one of my all time favorites.  Funny thing is most of the girls said, "looks just like me! LOL"  I wish!!!  I did them all alike, using my Grand Calibur to cut out the card and papers.  Had to make them as quick and easy as I could!!

Now, my real question is why do dental assistants get a whole week and Bosses only get 1 day?
Wish you could all step in and we could share a cup of my favorite beverage called coffee!!!
Oh and on a side note, I want to thank my friend Dana who made me my awesome watermark.  Have you ever noticed that yummy cup of coffee in there that says "Brenda"?!!!  Love it, thank you Dana!!

Two in One

I was working on a card for the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge this week, using an image from  Anita Be Stampin  and thought, well why not just use the sketch from the ABS challenge site and combine the two!!  I wasn't actually set to be on the ABS challenge this week but I went ahead and used the sketch anyways!!   At the Outlawz this week the color inspiration is one of my favorite color combinations.  It was the colors of my daughters wedding this past August.  Orange and pink with a twist to use flowers on your card or project.
Nope, this picture was not from my daughters wedding. I will add a pic at the bottom of my post though!  Her wedding was very possibly the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to!!
Anyhow, on to my card!!
Isn't this the cutest image? These stamps are from the Bears Bunches--Cling-Mounted-Rubber-Stamp-Set. This darling set comes with the 2 different bears as well as 3 sentiments to go with.  Love that!!!
I suppose I should show you the sketch from ABS!!
Here are a couple more shots of my card.
Now, for the challenge over at Anita Be Stampin you have a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to the store.  I want you to know these are some of the best quality stamps I have ever owned.  You will not be disappointed!
OK, I promised a pic of my daughters wedding.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope you will take the time to play along this week with me!!

Guylou's Inimitability Sketch Challenge

Wow, did we ever have a huge response to Guylou's Anything Goes Challenge.  Almost too many!! LOL.
Did you know that March is Reading month?  It is said that babies as young as 9 months of age have the ability to read.  That is incredible to me.  I think it is perfect since it was just Dr Seuss birthday and many children begin with those fabulous books.  In todays world of technology there are so many different avenues of reading.  So many of you have the kindle, or you download it to your phone.  I recently added Kindle for the laptop and read a book on my computer.  I think that is just crazy!!! But then again, I remember the Atari. Guess I am dating myself!!
This week in honor of reading month the design team is creating using Marysse or Caroline.  We were given a fabulous sketch to follow by Carmen.
I chose to use Marysse for my card.  I had these nesties that are shaped like a book and chose to use those on my card.  So once again I worked around my paper for my colors and design.  I had to dig around in my stash because I wanted paper with words on it.  I have no idea who this paper is from, I have definitely had it forever.
I have to say, this many layers had me concerned but I like the finished product!!!  I added glossy accents to her book to give it dimension and make it more realistic.
I hope you will find your way over to the Challenge Blog and follow along with us using Carmen's sketch.
This challenge ends March 17th at 10:00PM EST.  I hope you will take the time to read the rules to the challenge.  The last one found several participants not following the rules.  The winner will be given 1 digi of her choice plus another to play along with us in a future challenge as guest design team member.  If you don't have any of G's images head on over to the store there is something for everyone or head on over to CDAC where there is often a freebie!!
As always, thanks for stopping by today.  Hope to see you again soon!!

Anita Be Stampin Challenge #10

I have 2 posts today so please scroll down and see my post for the Tuesday Challenge at the Outlawz.

Today is a Color Challenge over at Anita Be Stampin.  We have one of my favorite color combinations to play with today.

I love denim blue and brown.  Add a little vanilla and what a yummy color combination!!
I had so much fun with my card today.  OK, this is a large card!!!  But when I saw the sentiment, "Party till the cow's come home", I thought I needed cow's, not cow!!  So I stamped 3 partying cows in a row.   There is a twist to this one.  Add denim or lace.  I chose lace.

These cows just crack me up!!  I added Glossy Accents really thick on the balloons to make them pop out.

These cows were so fun to color.  I don't know if you noticed but one cow is darker in color than the other two.
I hope you will come on over and check out the Challenge today.  There is a $15 gift certificate up for grabs.  Can I tell you what great quality these stamps are.  They are such a thick foam, and the rubber is deeply etched for excellent stamping.  I am impressed!!  This stamp set that I used today is Celebration Cooper.  It comes with this cow stamp and 6 sentiments to go with it.  Great value in that!!  If you haven't purchase a stamp yet, remember there is a freebie over at Paper Craft Planet when you join the ABS group.  And I heard a little whisper that there may be another one when the group reaches 200 and we are almost there!

Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge

Can you believe it is Tuesday again!  It is also March 1st.  Still can't believe that we are 2 months into the new year.  These last two months seem to have flown by.  I am going to have two posts today so make sure you check them both out.   The inspiration picture for our color challenge today is gorgeous.
I wish my living room looked like this.  Anytime I see black and white like this I think elegant.  The pop of color is Coral.  Now what copic colors constitute coral?
I just love this Hello Cupcake image by LOTV.  Isn't she darling?   The black and white papers are by Graphic 45.

You can see I was playing with my Grand Calibur.  It is so nice to be able to put more than one die in the machine at a time. Love it!!
Thanks for stopping by.  Make sure you head on over to the Tuesday Color Challenge and play along.

I also am adding this to the LOTV challenge this week which features circles.
